🌱Wild & Wacky East Bay Weather + Calling all artists in the area

Hello, Concord. I’m here in your inbox this morning to tell you everything you need to know about what’s happening in town. Today’s briefing includes updates on…

    • Some guests were harassed at In-N-Out in San Ramon.
    • Against Costa accounts have not changed the results of the vote.
    • Celebrate it year of the rabbit in the libraries of Contra Costa.

    But first, today’s weather:

Rainy periods. High: 58 Low: 42.

Are you a business owner or trader in Concord who wants to get noticed, connect with customers and increase sales? If that’s you, then I invite you to see how our newsletter sponsorships combine our local audience with your expertise to attract new customers. Click here to find out more.

Here are today’s top stories at Concord:

    1. An uncomfortable incident took place at the In-N-Out in San Ramon on Christmas Eve and it was filmed. A pair of diners were filming themselves trying on some of In-N-Out’s items when a man approached them and used inappropriate language while addressing them. The man came back several times. In the end, the friends ignored the man, but he was persistent and other diners were also harassed as they were captured on the same video. (KRON4 via MSN)
    2. Restaurants and bars on Locust and Bonanza streets in Walnut Creek will face a sewer line replacement in front of their establishments for the next 18 months. East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) and Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central Sans) say the project will begin January 3, 2023 on Locust Street between Mt. Diablo and Civic. “These utilities are over 75 years old and in desperate need of replacement,” said Assistant Director of Public Works Steve Waymire. “Our plan is to get that job done and then pave the road, fix the sidewalks and have a nice clean slate for future outdoor dining.” (Walnut Creek magazine)
    3. We’re going to have a bad day today, weather-wise, Concord! We are right in the path of a “pineapple express” weather system coming directly from Guam. Here in the East Bay we could see one to two inches of rain and in the Santa Cruz Mountains they could see up to 5 inches of precipitation. Be careful out there today! (Mercury News via MSN)
    4. Two very close races at Contra Costa resulted in a recount. At the end of the process, however, the results did not change. Antioch City Council District 1 re-election candidate Tamisha Torres-Walker will retain her seat and “Cesar Zepeda’s election to Richmond City Council was also confirmed following the completion of the recount on Friday.” (Contra Costa Herald)

    Today’s Patch Deals:

    From my notebook:

    • The Year of the Rabbit begins on January 6 and Contra Costa libraries find ways to celebrate! Check Event calendar to find something near you.
    • January 2023 is comfort food month in Concord! “Throughout the month, treat yourself to Concord’s most delicious and decadent food and treats. Find specials at participating restaurants, weekly themes highlighting everything from takeout to dessert, a great price and more. Come see what’s on the menu.” (Visit Concorde)
