Here are today’s top Bedford stories:
- Watch out for slippery driving conditions in Bedford on Saturday morning. A special weather report is in effect until early Saturday morning. Nighttime temperatures in the 20s and light winds can create black ice on wet pavement and melted snow spots on sidewalks. Side roads and side roads may appear wet but may have re-frozen, the National Weather Service warned. Motorists should “proceed with caution” on Saturday morning. (Weather.com)
- What is a Frozen Penguin Play Morning? Kids ages 3-6 will have sensory fun as they explore “skating penguins, a crown of frozen nature and a finger-painting snowman.” It all happens Saturday, January 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bedford Public Library! Register children from 3 to 6 years old here: (Bedford Public Library via Facebook)
- Did you miss the Cozy Blanket workshop? You have another chance to make your own cozy blanket, with no knitting required! After a brief holiday break, the Canvas Road Show is bursting with new ideas and filling its calendar of events. The Cozy Blanket workshop is back on January 12 at 6:30 p.m. (registration before January 10). Find out more about this cozy workshop and register here: (The Canvas Road Show)
- Jo Hendry (of Educational Farm) and Kathleen Ports have planned several outdoor events for Bedford over the next few months. The family snowshoe/hike event scheduled for Friday January 6 has been rescheduled to today, Saturday January 7, Kathleen Patch has informed. The event will take place at Legacy Park at 5:30 p.m. (for ages 5 and up to learn about nocturnal animals), with an adult walk (16 and up) at 8 p.m. “If we can’t snowshoe, we’ll walk “.
