- A Pittsburgh man has been convicted for the second time in the shooting death of his wife almost 10 years ago. On Friday, Kevin Jerome Easter was found guilty of the first degree murder of his wife, Janice Easter. The case was a retrial after the original conviction was overturned on appeal, due to issues Kevin Jerome’s attorneys had raised about his ability to stand trial. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. (Claycord.com)
- Registered nurses at the John Muir Behavioral Health Center in Concord will picket on January 24. Nurses will picket to raise awareness of what they call chronic understaffing levels. “We are seeing an increase in community needs for behavioral health services, especially since the start of the pandemic,” said Sara Starr-Cho, RN in the adult care unit. “JMH needs to recruit staff to accommodate this increase, so that nurses can meet the unique needs of all of our patients. » (United National Nurses)
- Construction continues next to the Taco Bell on Clayton Road. It looks like a 2×4 forest right now, but what will it be? Well, two buildings are currently under construction. - New Contra Costa County Supervisor Ken Carlson addressed him first open letter to his constituents in the communities of Pleasant Hill, Clayton, Concord and Walnut Creek. He’s a local boy who’s done well and he’s ready to serve. See his journey and his priorities in his letter published by the pioneer.
- Four homes in Walnut Creek and Alamo were hit by the same three burglars Friday night, according to the authorities. The owners were at home in at least one case. “Two additional burglary attempts were reported on Corte Briones in Martinez around 10:30 p.m., but it was not immediately clear whether the same crew was involved.” (News 24/680)
