Here are the top stories at Concord today:
- A game-ending hit left a concussed quarterback and a football program “in hot water for the second time in a month.” The College Park The Falcons were down before the last 2 minutes of the game. The opposing team’s quarterback took a knee to wait out the final seconds on the clock. That’s when a Falcon player caught him off guard with a hard kick that knocked him to the ground with a concussion according to team coach DJ Sexton. It came after the Falcon coach was suspended from the final two games of the season for a blowout win over Ygnacio Valley with an 84-0 scoreline. (Live score book)
- Contra Costa and Solano food bank in Concord has seen an increase in demand for their services of 100,000 people since this time last year. This is an increase of around 60% at a time when food donations are declining and the cost of feeding customers is rising. They need your help with donations. “Because we work with local retailers and grocery stores, we have the buying power to get certain foods at a discount, so no food (is) wasted. So every dollar provides at least two meals for members of the community”, explains Krystine Dinh. , the food bank’s director of communications. (KGO TV)
- As of Saturday, Nov. 12, Contra Costa County still had about 111,000 ballots to count. Most of them were mail-in ballots. It is still unclear when all the ballots will be counted. If you would like to check the status of your ballot, you can do so here. (Claycord.com)
- Antioch City Council will decide on Tuesday whether to enter into a 5-year deal with ShotSpotter to help police locate gunshots when they occur.
