The Fredonia Board of Directors approved a new village insurance carrier for Fredonia in a brief meeting Monday.
Lawley Insurance Company of Dunkirk has been selected to manage village insurance for 2023.
According to Administrator Jon Espersen, the only other business conducted on Monday was the approval of administrators to attend the winter legislative meeting of the New York Conference of Mayors.
Village officials initially considered canceling Monday’s meeting because it was Boxing Day and there was not much on the agenda. However, Mayor Douglas Essek pushed for the meeting to remain on the schedule, noting that the village should have a firmed-up 2023 insurance company by the end of 2022.
Unlike most Fredonia board meetings, Monday’s session was apparently not videotaped for the local public access channel or posted online.
