2022 DEC 23 (NewsRx) — By a News Reporter – Staff News Editor at Daily Insurance News — A new study on COVID-19 is now available. According to reports from University of Silesia of Technology by NewsRx correspondents, the research said, “The most significant public health system funding issues in Ukraine are the permanent deficit in public spending on drugs and the weak development of the voluntary health insurance market. The objective of the study is the search for optimal interactions between the actors of the system of relations “State – Insurers – Households” within the framework of voluntary health insurance.

Our reporters got a quote from the research of University of Silesia of Technology: “The study hypothesizes that households can only become more active participants in health insurance if their average monthly income reaches a certain threshold. It is calculated from the results of simulation games using the iterative Brown-Robinson method. According to the results of the simulation, this threshold is only 7% higher than the real value of the average monthly income of Ukrainian households during the analysis. At the same time, under this condition, the state in Ukraine will be able to transfer part of the financial burden of the compensation of health costs to the insurance companies. According to calculations made using the game theory toolkit, with the maximization of insurance payments to the population under health insurance contracts, the burden on public health financing in Ukraine could be reduced by 67.7%. The article was carried out on the data of the ten most powerful insurance companies of the Ukraine as early as 2021 (they are the ones who accumulate the lion’s share of home insurance premiums), that is, before the start of a full-scale war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

According to the journalists, the research concluded: “The results obtained can be used both by insurance companies when managing insurance premiums and payments and at the level of state management of costs in the field of public health. Acknowledgments This study was undertaken as part of the research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine: ‘Socio-economic recovery after COVID-19: modeling implications for macroeconomic stability, national security and the resilience of local communities’ (registration number 0122U000778); ‘The impact of COVID-19 on the transformation of the population’s medical and social security system: economic, financial-budgetary, institutional-political determinants’ (0122U000781).
