    Healthcare cost drivers to be revealed on December 1 – InsuranceNewsNet

    HARTFORD — Connecticut Department of Insurance (CID), the Office of The Health Advocate (OHA), and the Office of Health Strategy (OHS) will jointly organize an information session with a range of stakeholders to discuss the various cost factors contributing to the increase in the cost of health care and health insurance premiums.

    Representatives from hospitals, non-hospital health care providers, pharmacies, insurers and academics will participate in several roundtables.

    “Identifying health care costs and cost drivers is a necessary step to begin to contain costs, increase transparency and help make health care more affordable and available to all,” said the insurance commissioner. Andrew N. But.

    “The affordability of health care is essential for the health and outcomes of Connecticut residents, and to the longevity and efficiency of our healthcare system,” said Connecticut Healthcare Advocate Ted Doolittle.

    “Containing the growth of health care costs is an economic imperative that will help our businesses to be competitive and families to better afford a better quality of life,” said Director of the Office of Health Strategy Kim Martone.

    Topics covered include:

    *What are the main drivers of health care costs in the United States and Connecticut

    *How are medical rates determined?

    *Other factors in pricing

    A conversation between Insurance and Real Estate Committee the co-chairs and ranking members will wrap up the program.

    The information session will take place in person at Legislative Assembly Headquarters Building, Hartfordand streamed live online on CT-N at 9 am.
