Diwali is the festival of light, signifying the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil. Deepavali means “row of lights” in an ancient language of India, Sanskrit. The five-day festival of light is one of the largest and most popular festivals in India with over a billion Hindus observing Diwali around the world. People celebrate by dressing in colorful traditional clothes, lighting the inside and outside of houses with lamps or other lights, gathering with friends and family, enjoying a big traditional feast and exchanging gifts.
