MECOSTA COUNTY – Educating new generations of people interested in the real estate industry is paramount to a local real estate company that has planned and hosted community events around its career.

Peacock real estate recently held its monthly Career Night for those interested in learning more about how to enter the real estate profession and ways to connect with locals working in the business.

Mary Peacock, the agency’s owner, broker and real estate agent, said the hour-long monthly event aims to help educate potential new real estate novices.

“We have interested parties and we’re just going to see how to get into the real estate career,” Peacock said, “what it’s like to be successful in the real estate career and set yourself up for success. Education is always important no matter what career you choose. It is very important to always educate yourself on what the field has to offer and how you can contribute to your own community and family.

Peacock Real Estate will host another community information event, its monthly Mastermind Night, from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, October 27 at Red Bird Bistro at 22 N. Main St. NE in Cedar Springs. This month’s Mastermind Night keynote speaker is Sun Title’s Tom Cronkright, who will teach on wire fraud.

Peacock said Cronkright brings a wealth of knowledge about the dangers of wire fraud.

“He’s spent endless hours raising awareness about wire fraud and how it’s affected a lot of people and how everyone can be protected from it,” Peacock said. “He teamed up with the Secret Service. The hackers were very clever disguising themselves as real estate agents or title agencies and took hundreds of thousands of dollars from the victims, and that’s all over the United States. Tom made it his mission to make people understand how serious it is and how to protect themselves from being a victim.

“If you’ve ever thought about buying real estate or, you know, selling real estate, there are a lot of variables that come into play,” she added, “With that, you’re obviously protecting yourself by partnering you with an expert real estate advisor who has also educated themselves to protect you as a consumer because that is our #1 priority.
