    Three new directors take the oath of office for the Palomar Board of Directors

    Following the November 8 general election, Jacqueline Kaiser, Dr. Judy Patacsil and Michelle Rains join Christian Garcia and Roberto Rodriguez on the Palomar College Board of Trustees.

    SAN MARCOS – Three new trustees were sworn in to the Palomar Community College District (PCCD) Board of Trustees at a special organizational meeting on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.

    Dr. Judy Patacsil (Zone 1), Michelle Rains (Zone 4) and Jacqueline Kaiser (Zone 5) were elected in the November 8, 2022 general election and were sworn in at the meeting, during which the council also elected new leaders. and set the date and time of its ordinary meeting for the coming year.

    Christian Garcia was elected chairman of the board, Roberto Rodriguez was elected vice-chairman and Dr. Patacsil was elected secretary of the board.

    “I am grateful to have the privilege of working with our three new trustees as we continue to focus on student success and together pursue our short and long term goals and objectives,” said Superintendent/ Chair, Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey.

    As a second order of business, after electing its officers, the council set its regular meetings for the second Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m.

    Dr. Patacsil now represents PCCD Zone 1, which includes most of the district south of Highway 78 and west of I-15. She has 30 years of experience as a higher education professional, with both counseling and classroom experience at several area institutions, including San Diego State University and the San Diego Miramar College, where she currently works.

    Rains represents Zone 4, the trusteeship area that stretches from I-15 east to near the Salton Sea. She briefly attended Palomar College and now owns Cheers of Ramona, a restaurant in the community where she resides. Rains also sits on the Ramona Community Planning Group.

    And Kaiser represents Zone 5, which includes Fallbrook, Bonsall, East Oceanside and Camp Pendleton. She is a regional director for MetLife and manages pension plans for not-for-profit government entities, including educational institutions and community colleges. She also sits on the Fallbrook Community Planning Group.
