    SARASOTA – Approximately 300 full-time jobs lasting four months with the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be available to area residents seeking employment.

    The 300 jobs are for openings in sarasota and Fort Myersin the same way Brandon, Kissimmee and Orlandosaid a press release.

    “These positions are full-time 120-day appointments that can be extended based on operational needs,” he said. “Interested candidates are encouraged to apply online via USAJobs.gov.”

    FEMA made the announcement on Sunday – while noting that it provides more than $1.65 billion in federal grants as well as flood insurance payments and disaster loans, he said in a press release.

    “FEMA provided $674 million to households and $322 million to the state for emergency response, while US Small Business Administration provided $408 million in disaster loans and the National Flood Insurance Program paid $244 million in claims,” he said.

    The agency also noted that his temporary accommodation now covers Charlotte, DeSoto, sarasota, Lee, Coal and Hardy counties for those considered “eligible” survivors of Hurricane Ian.

    “FEMA Expanded transitional housing assistance to seven more counties, bringing a total of 26 counties eligible for temporary hotel stays for survivors who cannot stay at home due to the damage caused by the storm,” he said. “To date, the program provides housing for 2,277 households with 5,755 members. Hundreds of FEMA inspectors conducted more than 170,000 home inspections for survivors who applied for federal disaster assistance. »

    The agency said it was actively working to help.

    “FEMA meets survivors where they are to help jump-start their recovery. Disaster Survivor Assistance Specialists go door-to-door in Florida neighborhoods to help individuals register for assistance,” he said. “These teams interacted with more than 71,000 survivors in counties designated for individual assistance.

    He also noted that he still has 23 disaster recovery centers, including in Charlotte, DeSoto and sarasota counties. They include one at the Tringali Rec Center, 3450 N Path, Englewood; Shannon Staub Public Library, 4675 Career Lane, North Harbor; and Brewer Sports Park, 1365 SE Hargrave Street, Arcadia.

    The Englewood and Arcadia facilities are open 8am-7pm seven days a week. North Harbor the place is open 9am-6pm seven days on seven.
