Here are today’s top stories in Roseville:
- Roseville first responders were ready and waiting as the current storm system was set to pass this weekend. They already had crews are working around the clock to clean up debris, install barriers and generally prepare for impending inclement weather. And the locals were also ready. We’ve been there before. My favorite tip for weathering the storm? Play the ukulele! The owner of Strum Shop says you can do it from the comfort of your own home, it doesn’t take up much space and “you can’t be sad when you’re playing the ukulele!” Wise advice, indeed. (FOX40 News)
- Here is yet another reminder do not cross flood waters. Even water a foot deep can stall your vehicle, and if the water moves, it can drag your car down with it. Placer Sheriff’s deputies had to call in their dive team to rescue a motorist on Highway 65 who ignored the warning. The man eventually made it out of the floodwaters. According to the sheriff “he was very lucky”. Let’s all say it together: “Turn around. Don’t drown.” (Placer County Sheriff via Facebook)
- There was heavy snow and high winds throughout the weekend in Tahoe, and these conditions are expected to last until tomorrow evening. Everyone is advised to leave their skis in the closet and not attempt to go up the mountain, at least for the next few days. (Placer County Sheriff via Facebook)
- Citrus Heights also experiences its share of weather-related emergencies. According to City Manager Ash Feeney, the City has responded to 335 storm-related emergency calls since December 30, 2022. That’s up from the usual 75 calls per week the city answers. Feeney credited the storm sewer and stream maintenance programs as having “really paid off. I know there’s been flooding there on some streets, but (the city) hasn’t had the widespread flooding that we’ve seen sometimes in the past – and that was a major event,” he said. said Feeney.
