Arturo Polizzi is the new CEO of ProMedica.
Polizzi, who entered the role of president in Maysucceeds current CEO Randy Oostra, who is retiring on Monday after 25 years with the senior housing and care organization, according to an announcement.
Polizzi has been working with Oostra for the past six months to plan a smooth transition, according to the announcement. Oostra’s last official day in the role is October 31.
Oostra started with ProMedica in 1997 as Vice President of ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was later promoted to Chief Operating Officer and President of Health System in 2006. He has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since 2009.
Toledo-based ProMedica operates in 28 states with more than 330 skilled nursing centers, assisted living and memory care communities, outpatient rehabilitation clinics and hospice agencies, home health and palliative care. The company’s brands include Arden Course.
Succession planning for a new organizational leader began before the pandemic hit, but Oostra stayed on to help lead the organization’s Covid-19 response.
“I have worked closely with Arturo for many years, and I am confident that he will be an outstanding CEO for ProMedica,” Oostra said in a statement. “We have been working on a transition plan for some time, and despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, it is well prepared to continue moving the organization forward towards financial stability and long-term success.”
