The government has made it mandatory to link the PAN with the Aadhaar number for various services including filing tax returns. The deadline for binding the PAN to Aadhaar is March 31, 2023, after which the PANs of those who fail to do so will not be valid.
However, many do not know whether their PAN and Aadhaar are related or not. Here’s how to check it online:
1. Click on the following link
2. Enter your PAN card number and birth details.
3. After entering the “Captcha”, click on the “Submit” button.
4. This will take you to another screen where you can check the link status after entering your two PAN card and Aadhaar number.
If you are unable to check the status online, you can also resort to Income Tax Department’s SMS function. Just send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the following format.
UIDPAN < 12 Digit Aadhaar Number> 10-digit permanent account number>
You will soon receive an SMS informing you of the status of the Aadhaar-PAN link. If the two have been linked, you will receive the following message
“Your Aadhaar number……is already associated with the PAN card…..in the Income Tax Department database. Thank you for using our services.”
If the link has not been made and you wish to complete it, follow this link for the steps.
Investors can invest in ELSS mutual funds to save income tax.
