LLow-income pregnant, lactating and non-lactating postpartum women as well as infants and children up to five years of age who are at nutritional risk could benefit from the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

This program provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, healthcare referrals, and nutrition education. State agencies are responsible for licensing vendors, determining eligibility, and providing benefits and services across the United States.

The Food and Nutrition Service of the United States Department of Agriculture oversees the WIC at the federal level. It was first implemented as a pilot program in 1972 and declared permanent in 1974. The Healthy Meals for Healthy Americans Act of 1994 changed its name to emphasize its function as a nutrition program.

Can you use WIC at Walgreens

Walgreens has stores across the country, which means it depends on whether your state has approved the local Walgreens as a WIC retailer. To check if you can USE WIC at your Walgreens, you can contact the store and ask for more information.

    Does Amazon accept WIC

According to the US Department of Agriculture, WIC recipients are not allowed to use their benefits online. However, some states are currently trying to move in this direction.

As for Amazon, they offer WIC recipients a discount for Amazon Prime, but they cannot use the benefits as online payment through their website.

Can you use WIC online at Walmart

Unfortunately, although Walmart accepts WIC payments at all of its stores in the United States, there is no online shopping option for WIC recipients.

Who is eligible for the program?

To be eligible for WIC, applicants must live in the state in which they are applying and be either pregnant, nursing, postpartum, or a child five years of age or younger.

A person automatically qualifies for benefits if they or their family members participate in certain other benefit programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, or TANF.
