NEW YORK, November 9, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — AXA XL has announced the winner of the fifth edition of the AXA Art Prize. Milica Zekic, a student of the School of the Art Institute of Chicagowas selected as the first winner by jurors of renowned artists Arcmanoro Niles, Nicholas Party and Robin F. Williams, alongside the Global Chief Underwriting Officer (GCUO) of AXA XL for Fine Art & Specie, Jennifer Schipf. The title of his winning piece is You and me. The second prize was awarded toImelda Jasmin Saenzof Savannah College of Art and Design for his work entitled Interlacing.
The winners were chosen from the 40 finalist works of the AXA Art Prize 2022 exhibition, currently presented at the New York Academy of Fine Arts and virtually to axaartprizegallery.com. The award provides entrants with the highest level of exposure and the perfect opportunity to showcase their work to leading curators from top museums and galleries. The jury for this year’s exhibition included Ian Alteveerof the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ruth Ericsonof theInstitute of Contemporary Art/Boston, Louise Neriof GagosianandStephanie Sparling Williamsof theBrooklyn Museum.
