How long does the average American stay on welfare?

Jhe the United States of America is a country that puts welfare at the top of its political agenda, because so many millions of people depend on the state to help them get by.

While many Americans in power strongly believe in working hard enough to stand on their own without any help from the taxpayer, it is simply becoming impossible for so many citizens to do in the current financial climate.

Many Americans work more than one job to try to support their families, and that doesn’t stop them from having to turn to their local government for help.

There are a host of government-run programs that aim to help parents put food on the table for their children or care for vulnerable members of their family, and they are a key part of American society. today.

    Count on well-being

Hardly any American wants to depend on the state to help them lead a basic and fulfilling life, but the reality is that many need help for a very long time.

The majority of families leaving the welfare system do so after a relatively short period of time, about half of them leaving within a year; 70% in two years and almost 90% in five years.

But many return almost as quickly as they left – around 45% return within a year and 70% return after five years.

Generally speaking, the majority of families who look to the state for help raising their children tend to do so for a short period of time rather than becoming an integral part of their lives.
