The McDonald’s Gold Card, The McGold Card, whose owner can get McDonald’s for life, goes from legend to reality in the United States after causing a stir in the UK.
What is a McDonald’s Gold Card? It’s the McGold Card, a gold credit-card sized card that gets you swag in the form of free meals from the McDonald’s menu.
The magic card, versions of which have surfaced on actors and billionaires and friends of McDonald’s franchise owners (legendary McDonald’s regular Warren Buffett has one) – has been elusive to all but the elite connoisseurs. Now McDonald’s is tapping into that mythology to give users of the McDonald’s family of apps a chance to win one of three McDonald’s McGold cards in its “SZN of Sharing” contest (yes, that’s how they call it). Winners will also have the opportunity to give away three more cards to their friends or family (that’s a total of 12 cards given out in this event). The McGold Card offers its owner free McDonald’s meals twice a week for life (or 50, uh, whichever comes first). McDonald’s is also donating money to help offset winners’ taxes on the prize.

“Our fans have been fascinated by the history of the McGold Card and whether it really exists,” said Tariq Hassan, director of marketing and customer experience for McDonald’s in the United States. in a report. “And now we’re going to make this McDonald’s legend a reality for our fans by giving them the ultimate holiday gift – a chance to win a card and then share access with up to three family members or friends. ”
So how do you get (a chance of getting) a McDonald’s Gold Card? Two ways:
- Get the The McDonald’s app and enroll in the MyMcDonald’s Rewards program. Make in-app purchases between December 5 and December 25. You are automatically registered.
- Or go to McDonald’s SZN Sharing Website and enter without making a food purchase between December 5 and 25.
As with any competition there are rules, and in these rules, the numbers. And those numbers answer a question about how much indulgence is promised here: That equates to a $10 McDonald’s meal, twice a week. You can’t just sit there and eat Big Macs until you burst.
McDonald’s values the cards up to $297,140. McDonald’s says the McGold Card has an annual value of $1,040 per year for 50 years. Winners will also receive a check for $22,285 “to help offset taxes” on the prize, totaling $74,285. The cards you can give to your friends? McDonald’s does not cover its taxes.
