FALLS CHURCH, Va. (PRWEB) November 15, 2022
Members of National Insurance Association and Financial advisors (NAIFA), in washington d.c.for the NAIFAs National Leadership Conferenceare organizing a Day on the Hill today, tuesday november 15. Participants from across the country participate in more than 150 face-to-face meetings with members of Congress and their staff.
NAIFA members are insurance and financial professionals from across the country who serve American families and businesses on Main Street. Meetings with their Representatives and Senators focus on the financial services industry and the critical role that financial planning, insurance products and annuities play in securing the financial future of their clients and communities. They will ask Congress for his continued support of policies and laws that help ensure financial security for all.
The personal stories of NAIFA members, who represent their businesses, customers, and communities, help legislators understand the important role NAIFA members play in:
- To provide products, services and advice that improve the financial security of 90 million American families.
- Promote financial literacy and self-sufficiency in diverse communities.
- Strengthening of WE the economy and contribute to the financial health of communities in every congressional district.
- Represent the best interests of their clients and promote the success of Americans and Main Street businesses.
Among the specific issues and policies NAIFA members are discussing is support for bipartisan SECURE 2.0 retirement legislation. The measure would increase the availability, accessibility and affordability of retirement security products. It would increase the flexibility of pension plans and increase incentives for employers to offer plans.
NAIFA members also tell their legislators that any law or regulation that would redefine the status of independent contractors using a ABC test or similar methods, including the Department of Labor proposed Independent contractor rule, should exempt insurance and finance professionals. Treating agents and advisors as employees under such a change would impair their ability to operate their own businesses and work in the best interest of their clients.
