OAlthough many payment deadlines expired during the month of October, some people are still eligible to receive payments, but many have a limited time to claim them.
Tax relief was available in Colorado and Massachusetts until just a few days ago and many people in these states failed to act in time.
Luckily, this month still offers residents of other states the chance to claim some extra money to help them fight inflation or any other financial hurdles they’re facing.
Other States Offering Tax Refunds
Cook County, Illinois is one of many places that are still offering tax refunds, but they will only be accepting applications until October 21.
Those who qualify will receive a direct monthly payment of $500, it is expected that 3,250 households will see this payment arrive for two years.
Eligibility depends on family income to be 250% of the federal poverty level or less and the applicant is at least 18 years old.
Participants in this program will be selected by lottery from among all eligible residents.
In Maine, Governor Janet Mills says the state will continue to send tax refund checks for 850 dollars eligible individuals and $1,700 per family throughout 2022.
To qualify, an individual must not have an income greater than $100,000 while the head of household or jointly filing couples can have an income between $150,000 and $200,000.
Sonoma County, California will also give a monthly payment of $500 to more than 300 families who reside in the county and whose household income is below the 185% of federal poverty leveldepending on family size.
Applicants may also be pregnant with a child under the age of 6 and have proof that they have experienced economic hardship in the past few months.
