The owner of Empower Retirement has accused San Francisco-based lending firm Empower Finance of marketing and selling goods and services that violate his trademark rights.
In a complaint Registered in the District of Colorado, Empower Annuity Insurance Co. of America said it holds several trademarks incorporating the term “Empower”. The company had previously entered into an agreement with Empower Finance to reserve the rights of both parties, he said, including with respect to possible future confusion.
