Currently, Hamilton, 37, is one of the older generation drivers. Lewis Hamilton is frequently asked about his retirement plans. Earlier he replied that he would not run until he was completely exhausted, but now the British runner has changed his mind.
Hamilton revealed in a panel interview with the media in Austin attended by Motorsports.com that he plans to sign a new multi-year contract with the Silver Arrows (his current contract expires in 2023). Interest outside of F1 and constant support from Mercedes to keep him energized on the track were some of the main reasons he stayed.
“I’m just in a happy place” said Hamilton. “I’m much more grounded, I have my home that I can hang out in the UK when I come to see the team for example, my family comes down. I have a much better setup in every way. And I feel like I can take the team to more championships.

Hamilton has always kept in mind the right balance between work and rest. The seven-time world champion has set some limits to his work ethic. It does not overload. Keeping their body in shape and their mind in a healthy state in their 40s is the biggest challenge for any athlete.
Some of the greatest said goodbye to their respective sports in the 1940s. Serena Williams and Roger Federer to name a few. A wonderful friend of Hamilton’s, Tom Brady, is still in competition and managed to continue his career in the NFL at the age of 43.

The Mercedes team principal uses Brady’s name as inspiration for the billion-dollar man to stay in the sport and continue for the next few years, “To me, the best athlete in the world, Tom Brady, he’s on the court and getting tackled and getting the ball thrown, and he’s 43,” said Wolff.
He further added, “So as long as you continue to take care of yourself and develop your cognitive sensors, I think [Hamilton] has many more years in it. I am almost certain that will be the case here in the team.
